We are a small holding farm situated in Bloemfontein, Free State dedicated to producing high quality, beautiful and long-lasting fresh-cut roses.

De Plante Group started to operate in the family owned 13Ha plot growing seasonal vegetables and supplying to the informal market.

In the year 2020, the shareholders ventured into a unique project of growing roses upon realising that many of the flowers varieties used at weddings/events were not grown commercially in South Africa and were imported and costly.

Being situated in Bloemfontein; Mangaung District, well known as” City of Roses”. The Roses project will contribute to the vibrant, dynamic and energetic character of the tourism within the city. This will help the city leave up to its name!

This cut flower project is aimed at reducing unemployment and improving skill development thereby ensuring gainful economic participation of the community.

Our business is further designed to help better and enhance previously disadvantaged women with the potential to grow into the corporate world of business specifically agriculture, particularly floriculture. The business will not only improve their working skills, but they would increase their active and gainful participation in the economic activities of the province thereby positively contributing to the growth of the economy and their living conditions as well as combating the socio-economic disparities.

Mrs Nelly Poonyane is the passionate force behind the cut roses project with her extensive love for roses. She practiced as an Events Planner for over 5 years. It was during her quest for knowledge in floristry, she saw an opportunity in cut rose farming as she identified the demand for consistent supply of quality roses within her region and realising that many of the flowers varieties used at weddings were not grown commercially in South Africa and were imported.

“I am passionate about growing beautiful luxury roses, sustainably. After all, we are borrowing the land for our children and it is our responsibility to ensure we protect, preserve and care for the environment.”
